From the Chair of SD Canada

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Susila Dharma Canada has operated as a registered charity for almost ten years now, aiding projects around the world, on four continents. There have been many individuals whose lives have been improved through the generosity of Canadian Subud members and businesses.This year we have helped provide access to education in Vietnam, Indonesia, India and Colombia, care for orphans in Romania, improved medical care in the Congo, hope for single imprisoned mothers of young children in Argentina, and contributed to several emergency relief efforts in Cuba and Indonesia.

We have also started the application process for a partnership agreement with CIDA (Canadian International Development Agency). Rosanna Hille, Virginia Thomas and Bardolf Paul are preparing a proposal which should be ready by early 2010. The directors on our board are Rosanna Hille, David Hitchcock, Kumari Beck, Thara Ritt, Heidi Hitchcock, Raphaelle Chapleau, Harris Morrison and Atisah Moreau. We meet about six times a year. All our meetings are by conference call except for the AGM. We have two fundraising efforts supporting SDC this year, the calendar sale through SICA (Elfrida Schragen) and the sock sales through Richard Simonʼs company.

What we provide through the work of Susila Dharma Canada is a trust and hope that those less fortunate are not abandoned and that there are people around the world in Subud who are willing to share their material abundance, their skills and knowledge. A bridge is created between those who have much and those who have little. It is our hope at Susila Dharma Canada that the Subud community will continue to strongly support these projects with monetary tax deductible donations and participation in our organization.

Heidi Hitchcock has produced a poster with descriptions of all the projects supported by Susila Dharma Canada this year. I hope this poster will be printed by many of you and displayed in your Subud hall and any other places which can help us raise funds.
